Painting Progress: The Thinkers are ready to Think.

I am finished painting in these characters! This one’s a 5′ x 5′ commission I’ve been working on.

Time to make it messier!

Now that they are ready, I am going to illustrate their thoughts abstractly, and I’m excited about it. I’ve got some oil sticks I’ve been wanting to bust out – I should experiment with them a little first and see how they’ll look over acrylic. I can also use more acrylic, and chalk, and pastel, and pencil crayon… we’ll see. But I definitely want to use some wax too.

A work in progress.

Right now I’m working on a big, fun commission for a lovely couple. I was stoked when they requested a large canvas: 5 by 5 feet. I’m stilling working on painting in the characters, and then want to add more into the background, and I’m thinking of adding some encaustic on this one – not a clear layer over everything, but some shapes, translucent, in places here and there. Thoughts?

Hey, you can see Steph in the background! Proof that I do in fact paint human heads sometimes too. Just sometimes.

I hope to have more to show on this one soon!

Last post before the TOAE

Ho—–oly man. The TOAE starts TOMORROW!  *T*O*M*O*R*R*O*W*!!!!

I’ve been so busy making art that I haven’t stopped to blog about it. Well! There are new big paintings…

and new small paintings.

I’m trying to entice you to the exhibition by not showing you the full images of any finished art. Is it working? Do you want to come see it yet? Are you packing up to head out tomorrow morning?

If you’re not sure yet whether you should come to the show or not, here’s another flyer to tell you that, yes, you should.

So it’s settled then. I’ll see you there! The show is on rain or shine, and it’s free admission. The hours are:

Friday 10:30am-7:30pm
Saturday 10:30am-7:30pm
Sunday 10:30am-6:30pm

See you soon!!!!
